Hanson Announces Candidacy for Clay County Sheriff
Randy Hanson of Vashti, Texas would like to announce his candidacy for the office of Clay County Sheriff. He has served in law enforcement for over 15 years as a jailer, patrol deputy, patrol sergeant, jail administrator, and investigator. In that time he has demonstrated fairness, good judgment, and dedication to the law and the people that he has sworn to protect.
Randy Hanson, born and raised in Clay County by his parents Jesse and Janine Hanson, grew up working with his great grandfather Tommy ‘T.F.’ Hanson and his grandfather Jacob ‘J.T.’ Jones working cattle, fixing fence, and hauling hay. He learned to keep the Lord first and to work hard. “A man that hauls hay or cuts wood for a living knows the value of a dollar,” a piece of advice Randy picked up at an early age from his grandfather that has stayed with him since.
Randy Hanson began school at Bellevue I.S.D. and went on to study at the University of North Texas and Midwestern State University. He began his career in law enforcement working for the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office in 1996. Since that time he has earned a Master Peace Officer Certification, an Advanced Jailer Certification, a Homicide Investigator Certification, an Internal Affairs Investigator Certification, Special Sexual Assault Investigator Certification, is a certified Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education Instructor, and is a certified Firearms Instructor. He is a D.E.A. trained and certified Clandestine Lab Specialist, SWAT trained and certified, a member of the Texas Tactical Peace Officers’ Association, and is a member of the Texas Jail Association. Randy Hanson has served as a law enforcement liaison to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, and has served as liaison to local Neighborhood Watch programs. Randy Hanson was awarded the Certificate of Recognition by Texas Senator Craig Estes for his distinguished service as a deputy of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office on May 20th, 2008. Randy Hanson was also awarded a commendation for valor by Sheriff Staci Beesinger of Archer County Texas for acts of bravery performed on June 23rd, 2010.
Randy Hanson lives on a small ranch in south Clay County with his wife, Michelle, and two children, Kaity (15), and Alex (17). Randy Hanson and his wife are raising their children with the same conservative philosophy that he was brought up to believe in and support. Alongside his father, Randy is the fourth generation to operate in Clay County under the family (Bar H) brand. Randy is a proud member of the Texas and Southwest Cattle Raisers Association, and the Southwest Clay County Neighborhood Watch program. Randy Hanson is a sponsor of his local youth group ministry, and a founding member of the 3G (God, Guys, and Guns) Club of his church. Randy Hanson is also a competition pistol shooter and proud member of the United States Practical Shooting Association and the National Rifle Association.
In addition to the responsibilities and duties that a County Sheriff is charged with by the Texas Constitution, Randy Hanson has a plan to enhance the services provided by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. Randy Hanson will initiate a higher standard of service that will make the citizens of Clay County safer, and raise the level of accountability in your Sheriff’s Office. A few aspects of this plan are:
1)
An effective scheduling and documenting procedure that limits unnecessary overtime and tracks every hour billed to the citizens of Clay County.
2)
A program of enhanced tracking of sex offenders living in the communities of Clay County.
3)
A focused drug interdiction initiative.
4)
A new program for requiring that convicted felons pay restitution back to Clay County for the expenses of investigating the crimes they’ve committed which will be accomplished by working closely with the District Attorney’s Office.
Randy Hanson. Firm enforcement. Fair judgment. Accountable management.
